Who is Sophia?
In this time of transition, Sophia redirects us from the love of power to the power of love. She is feminine wisdom seeking expression through us, reshaping how we listen, lead, and live.
An Ancient Archetype for Modern Times
Sophia is an ancient name for wisdom, often understood as feminine wisdom or wisdom that lives in the body and heart, not just the mind.
Across many traditions, Sophia points to a way of knowing that is intuitive, compassionate, discerning, and deeply connected to life. She is not a figure to worship but a quality to embody, because Sophia lives in each of us.
This present era has been described as the Sophia Century, which names a collective shift reflected in the work of visionaries, such as Barbara Marx Hubbard, Lynne Twist, Anodea Judith, and many others. It points to this time of transition, calling humanity beyond domination and separation and toward cooperation and interconnection.
Serving a World in Transition
We are living in a moment of profound cultural unraveling and re-patterning. Many people feel disoriented, overwhelmed, or quietly aching for something more real.
Sophia Circles are a counter-technology to this moment, offering a practice ground for the world we are becoming—a new way of being, rooted in wisdom. They invite a reorientation from the love of power to the power of love.
Through listening, shared humanity, and the simple act of gathering, each Circle becomes a local expression of a much larger remembering, one that holds the power to reshape the world.
Values
Sophia Circles are guided by shared principles that shape how we gather, listen, and lead. These values help create spaces where people feel safe and seen. Here’s what we stand for …
Inclusivity
We welcome women and women-identifying individuals of all backgrounds, identities, ages, and lived experiences. Every voice matters, and each one strengthens our collective wisdom.
Shared Stewardship
We hold circles as peer-led, non-hierarchical spaces. Leadership may be held by one person, shared, or emerge naturally through relationship and mutual respect.
Presence over perfection
We release the need to be “ready” to Circle. Sophia Circles meet people exactly where they are, honoring honesty and real life as it unfolds.
Active Listening
We practice deep, nonjudgmental listening without fixing or comparing. Being truly heard is central to the work we do together.
Embodied Wisdom
We trust the body, the breath, and the present moment as sources of insight. Wisdom is not something we acquire but something we remember and live.
